Dictation or voice following says it is unavailable

Voice following and dictation use speech recognition that runs on your device, and True-Prompt never falls back to an online service. It needs iOS 17 or later with dictation available for your iPhone’s language. If it still says unavailable, open the iPhone Settings app, go to General → Keyboard → Enable Dictation, and try again. Timed and manual scrolling always work.

The microphone permission is stuck

1. Open the iPhone Settings app
2. Scroll down and tap True-Prompt
3. Turn Microphone on
4. Reopen the app and try again

Which languages does dictation work in?

Dictation and voice following listen in your iPhone’s own language, as set in Settings → General → Language & Region, as long as Apple’s on-device speech recognition supports it. If it does not, they use English. The app’s screens are in English.

How do I speak my script instead of typing it?

On the first screen tap Speak your script, or open any script in the editor and tap Dictate. Speak and your words are typed in on your device. Tap Stop dictating when you are done, then edit as normal. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.

Can I read and record at the same time?

Yes, with timed or manual scrolling. Voice following and recording both need the microphone, so starting Record pauses voice following until you stop recording.

Where are my recordings?

Open a script and tap Recordings, or press Record in the Prompter and tap View afterwards. Recordings are kept on your device only. Use Share on a recording to send or save it elsewhere.

Which files can I import?

Plain text (.txt), Fountain screenplays (.fountain) and Word documents (.docx). PDFs cannot be imported, so save or export the script as .docx or .txt first, or copy the text and paste it into a new script.

Using a beam-splitter or mirror rig

In the Prompter, tap Mirror to flip the script horizontally, or use Display → Vertical mirror to flip it upside down. Buttons stay normal so you can still use them.

My scripts are gone

Scripts are stored on the device, so they are removed if the app is deleted. If the app reports that saved scripts could not be read, it keeps a backup copy of the unreadable data and does not erase anything. Contact us and we will help.
