True-Prompt — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

The short version: True-Prompt keeps your scripts, recordings and settings on your own device. It has no account system, no advertising and no analytics, and it does not send your scripts, your voice or your recordings to anyone. The one thing it contacts a server for is checking for app updates, explained below. This website (true-slate.com) is separate from the app and may show ads from Google; see "Cookies and advertising on this website" below.

Who this policy covers

This policy explains how True-Prompt (the "app"), developed by Andy Dodd, handles information when you use it. There is no company or organisation behind it beyond the individual developer.

Your scripts

Scripts you write, paste or import are saved in the app's own storage on your device. They are never uploaded. If you import a file (.txt, .fountain or .docx), it is read on your device to extract the text; the original file is not kept by the app and is not sent anywhere.

Voice following and dictation (microphone and speech recognition)

Voice following is optional and only starts when you press the Voice button. It uses the microphone and Apple's speech recognition, set to run on your device. If your device cannot do this, voice following is unavailable rather than using an online service.

Audio is processed live to work out where you are in the script. The app does not record it, save it, or transmit it. The microphone is released when you stop voice following, leave the Prompter, or the app leaves the foreground.

Dictation works the same way. When you press Dictate in the script editor, or Speak your script on the first screen, your words are turned into text on your device and typed into the script. Only the text is kept, as part of your script. The audio is not saved or sent anywhere, and the microphone stops when you press Stop, leave the editor, or the app leaves the foreground.

Recordings

The app can record your voice, but only when you press Record and only until you press Stop (or leave the Prompter). Recordings are saved in the app's storage on your device, are never uploaded, and are deleted when you delete them or uninstall the app. A recording only leaves your device if you choose Share and send it somewhere yourself.

Your photos, camera and contacts

True-Prompt does not use your camera, photo library or contacts, and does not ask for access to them.

App updates

To deliver improvements without a full App Store update, the app checks for updates using Expo's EAS Update service. When it checks, Expo's servers receive standard technical information that any internet request involves, such as your IP address, the app version, the platform and the operating system version. No scripts, recordings, voice or personal content are included. Expo's handling of that information is described in its privacy policy.

Purchases

Any purchase of the app is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. True-Prompt does not see or store your payment details.

What the app doesn't do

Cookies and advertising on this website

This privacy policy is hosted on true-slate.com, which is a normal website and separate from the app. This site uses Google AdSense to show ads, which may use cookies or similar technology to personalise the ads you see and measure their performance.

If you're in the UK or EEA, you'll be asked to give or decline consent before any personalised ads are shown. Google explains what it collects and how in its own policy for partner sites.

You can control or clear cookies at any time in your browser's settings. Declining ad cookies doesn't stop the site from working, it just means ads (if shown) won't be personalised to you. The app itself uses no cookies.

Data stored on your device

Your scripts, recordings and display preferences (such as text size, colours and mirroring) are stored only on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app.

Reporting an issue

If you email for support, that email is used only to read and respond to you, kept only as long as needed to resolve your query, and never shared with anyone else or used for marketing.

Children's privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, of any age. Apart from the update check described above, it does not transmit information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top will be updated and the new version posted at this same address.

Your rights

True-Prompt itself does not collect or store personal data on any server of its own, so there is nothing held about you to access, correct or delete. For data Google collects through ad cookies on this website, use Google's own privacy controls. If you have any questions, contact support@true-slate.com.
