The short version: The True-Slate app has no server, collects no personal data, uses no analytics or advertising, and shares nothing with anyone. Everything it does — including reading contact names and listening for timecode — happens only on your own device, and nothing is transmitted off it. This website (true-slate.com) is separate from the app and may show ads from Google — see "Cookies and advertising on this website" below.
This policy explains how True-Slate (the "app"), developed by Andy Dodd, handles information when you use it. There is no company or organisation behind it beyond the individual developer.

True-Slate can pull names from your device's contacts so you can quickly pick a director or DP name for the slate. This is optional: the app only requests contacts access the first time you open the "Contacts" tab in the name picker, and the other tabs work without it.
When granted, contact names are read on your device to show the pick list. Only the single name you actually choose is written to the slate (and saved locally with the rest of the slate, below). Your contacts are never uploaded, never sent to any server (the app doesn't have one), and never shared with any third party.
If you turn on LTC jam sync (Settings → Timecode), the app opens the microphone / audio input to read SMPTE LTC timecode from a connected source. The incoming audio is decoded live, on your device, purely to recover the timecode value. It is never recorded, saved to a file, or transmitted anywhere. The microphone is closed again as soon as you turn the feature off.

This privacy policy is hosted on true-slate.com, which is a normal website and separate from the app. This site uses Google AdSense to show ads, which may use cookies or similar technology to personalise the ads you see and measure their performance.
If you're in the UK or EEA, you'll be asked to give or decline consent before any ad code runs. Google explains what it collects and how in its own policy for partner sites.
You can control or clear cookies at any time in your browser's settings. Declining ad cookies doesn't stop the site from working, it just means ads (if shown) won't be personalised to you.
Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
No advertising or analytics code runs on this website until you have made a choice in our consent banner, and you can change that choice at any time. Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie in detail.
True-Slate saves your working state in a file on your device only: the slate fields, settings, take / shot log, reverse-side notes, and any named productions and name history you've built up. This never leaves your device and is deleted automatically if you uninstall the app. Files you choose to export (CSV, ALE, PDF reports) are handed to iOS's share sheet for you to send or save wherever you decide.
If you email us for support, that email is used only to read and respond to you, kept only as long as needed to resolve your query, and never shared with anyone else or used for marketing.
The app doesn't knowingly collect any information from anyone, of any age, since it doesn't collect information at all beyond the on-device, non-transmitted uses described above.
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top will be updated and the new version posted at this same URL.
True-Slate itself doesn't collect or store any personal data, so there's nothing held about you to access, correct, or delete. For data Google collects through ad cookies on this website, use Google's own privacy controls. If you have any questions, contact support@true-slate.com.
